Trefeddian Hotel

In a 'stunning location' in Snowdonia national park, this traditional hotel has been owned and run by the Cave family for more than a century. 'The decor is tasteful rather than modern, but that adds to the classic charm of the place,' said a visitor in 2012. Another comment: 'The attitude of the approachable staff rubs off on guests; there is often merry laughter in the lift.' Bedrooms are 'spotless', with good storage space; beds are 'very comfortable'. Sea-facing rooms overlook 'a magnificent sweep of Cardigan Bay'. Traditional dishes are served in the formal dining room, where 'the freedom from background music is a blessing'. 'The meal was a revelation, the quality of ingredients superb, and cooked by a creative chef [Tracey Sheen] who knows her craft.' 'Plenty of seating areas with a view' in the bar, where a 'decent' lunch was enjoyed. 'The cooked breakfasts are first class, and set you up for the day - no lunch required.' In the off season, 'most of the guests are golden oldies like us'. During school holidays, Trefeddian is popular with families for the games room, play area and early dinners for children. • This excellent hotel has kept its freedom from piped music - a blessing. It has glorious views over Cardigan Bay and the golf course. It ran smoothly and all staff were friendly; many are local. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of storage space. Food and service are excellent. The Cave family create a homely atmosphere.

  • Our comfortable room looked over the golf course and a magnificent stretch of Cardigan Bay. In the restaurant, dinner was excellent and there was a daily changing menu. What a joy. Breakfast just as good.

  • We visited the hotel for the first time this weekend, and thoughly enjoyed the stay. I found the service first rate. The chambermaids, waitresses and bar staff were efficient and curteous. A stunning location with excellent food and pleny of choice. Spotless accommodation with comfortable beds. The decor is tasteful rather that modern, but that adds to the classic charm of the place.

  • I go here regularly and the standards remain high at all times. You are treated like one of the family. The evening meals are always a feast and take some eating;I can normally only manage 3 courses.
