The Dulaig  (Shortlist*)

Furnished with Arts and Crafts antiques, Carol and Gordon Bulloch's environmentally friendly B&B is in an Edwardian house in a rural position, a few minutes' walk from town. 'Attention to detail was superb and there were lots of little touches.' Freshly baked offerings are left daily by the 'cake fairy' in the elegant bedrooms. The extensive breakfast menu has a Scottish flavour, using home-grown produce and eggs from the Bullochs' flock of Black Rock free-range hens. Drawing room, dining room (quiet, contemporary Scottish background music), veranda; secluded garden (wildlife pond, summer house). Wi-Fi (computer available). Parking (garage for motorbikes and cycles). 3 bedrooms. B&B £70--£110 per person
  • The perfect place to stay. Everything is done to make your visit special, from the luxuriously furnished house and bedrooms, the beautiful gardens, the delicious breakfast and "cake fairy" treats each day, to the warm hospitality of the owners. They make all the food using the highest quality locally sourced ingredients, and provide luxuries you would expect from a five-star hotel.

  • Carol and Gordon run an utterly luxurious B&B. It's so cosy, and they are wonderful hosts. The house is full of interesting Arts & Crafts furniture. One of the main draws is the food. The breakfast is one of the best I've eaten anywhere. And the 'cake fairy' is a fabulous little treat. So many small and thoughtful touches like this, made us feel thoroughly pampered.
