'The welcome and desire to make our stay enjoyable were outstanding,' say visitors this year to Joan and John Campbell's B&B. The white-painted Victorian Gothic house stands in a 'lovely, peaceful garden', and has 'stunning' views over Loch Linnhe. Earlier visitors, 'after being wowed by our room, took tea and shortcake in the beautiful lounge'. Each bedroom is different: the Garden Room ('the most peaceful') faces the loch; west-facing Rob Roy, with colonial-style bed, is where Jessica Lange stayed while making that film; the Turret Room has a window seat with garden and loch views and a Louis XV king-size bed; the Terrace Room, with a private terrace facing the garden, has a king-size bed and Victorian slipper bath. Visitors like the 'fresh flowers from the garden', 'the little extras: towels tied up with a ribbon; decanter of sherry with lovely glassware'. At breakfast (ordered the evening before), 'we enjoyed the poached haddock, and the fresh fruit and yogurt'. 'My poached eggs arrived with a flower; porridge came with whisky, cream, brown sugar and honey.' (John and Sylvia Barns, CW)
