Seven bedrooms, including one for disabled guests and one (with an adjacent room) suitable for a family, and a new reception area have been added to Iain and Clair Wilson's unusual venture, a combination of 'posh B&B', continental-style café/bistro and delicatessen. The 'higgledy-piggledy' conversion of old houses (Grade II listed) is on the main square of a charming little Norfolk town. Tables and chairs stand on the pavement outside; inside is a series of eating rooms with old beams, exposed bricks, wooden tables. A self-confessed 'fussy' visitor thought 'the staff delightful, the welcome excellent'. Free tea on arrival might include 'delicious ginger cake'. The 'charming' older bedrooms ('one of the nicest we have ever stayed in,' wrote inspectors) are decorated in 'North Norfolk style' with flint, exposed brickwork, oak floorboards, slate. But a visitor on a three-night stay complained of lack of drawer storage. Café-style meals are served all day; in the evening there is bistro food like 'posh pizza'; classic paella, or dishes from the vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and 'small people' menus. Breakfast in a large, light room 'could not be better': freshly squeezed juices, cereals, croissants, fruit compote, etc, on a central table; cooked dishes brought with thick toast.
