Hardly a typical Guide hotel: set in a steep, wooded valley below the Falls of Clyde, this restored 18th-century cotton mill (managed by Michael Ward and owned by New Lanark Trust) forms part of a World Heritage Site. Originally a manufacturing centre developed by the utopian social pioneer, Robert Owen, in the early 19th century, the complex now includes a visitor centre, shops, self-catering accommodation, a youth hostel and extensive health and fitness facilities...
