On the crest of a hill with views over vines as far as the Malvern hills, the restaurant and rooms on the Three Choirs estate are 'a feast for the eye, with a suggestion of Tuscany'. A visit was 'greatly enjoyed' this year: 'Reception, in the bar, was friendly, the bedroom was excellent, the food magnificent.' Eight of the rooms are in a single-storey building beside the restaurant. 'Ours was large with a king-size bed, wardrobe, dressing table, two good chairs; French windows opened on to a terrace overlooking the vines. There was a good shower over the bath, but no handrail.' Three newer, Scandinavian-style lodge rooms stand among the vines; they have private parking. In the restaurant (the chef is Darren Leonard), a small lounge area has a log fire, comfortable chairs. 'The tables were large (hurray) and the service well paced. A good tian of crevettes and avocado; my bream fillet was perfectly cooked with interesting garnishes; good bread and local butter. An estate wine, Siegerrebe, was so good we bought some in the shop in the morning. Breakfast had crisp toast, lovely scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, but, alas, marmalade in small jars. We would definitely go again.' (LM Mayer-Jones, and others)
