'A wonderful welcome from Tessa and Tizzie, two friendly retrievers, and from Boris the cat,' was enjoyed by a visitor this year to this B&B. In a garden on a small country road, this characterful conversion of two farm cottages has panoramic views of town and sea. 'We get fantastic sunsets,' say the owners. There are new owners this year--John, Jean, and Lesley Hawkins, so things may change. Reports welcome. An earlier guest wrote: 'The pleasure of this place is how comfortable it feels, unlike many anonymous hotels.' One of the gargoyles on the front wall is reputedly from Canterbury cathedral; there are beamed ceilings, a wood-burning stove in the 'cosy' lounge, and cast iron fireplaces. The bedrooms 'have been refurbished to a very high standard'. One has a four-poster bed, and there is a two-room family suite. 'Great value.' 'The dining room, facing the garden and estuary, is lovely.' Breakfast, 'done superbly', has healthy and vegetarian options, and meat from local butchers. No evening meal, but the owners are good at recommending local restaurants. Wi-Fi is available. (B and P Orman, and others)
