We are delighted to announce that we are going to recommend outstanding hotels once again in mainland Europe. Please see our first choices immediately above.
Five years ago, we had to stop publishing our Continental Europe Guide because it was uneconomic. That decision was regretted by many of our readers who had come to rely on it. We are therefore delighted to announce that we are going to start recommending hotels in mainland Europe once again. We will begin slowly with just a few of our personal favourites, but we hope readers will nominate their favourite European hotels so that we can gradually build up the numbers again. That is the way the Good Hotel Guide began 33 years ago when Hilary Rubinstein, a literary agent, asked all his friends to nominate their favourite hotel. Please do help us get this exciting project off the ground. The more help and feedback we get from our readers, the more reliable and comprehensive our selection of Continental European hotels will be. There is one caveat of which you should be aware. Hotels are not charged for their entries in the printed Guide, nor are hospitality or advertising accepted. But we do charge a fee to our selected hotels for appearing on the website to meet development and running costs.
