'Highly recommended' by a reader this year, this upmarket B&B returns to a full entry in the Guide, now under owners Phillip Manning and Chiung-Wen Liang. We sent an inspector, who concurred with the endorsement: 'They are a lovely young couple who seem to delight in having people to stay, and want to know about one's plans for the day, and the evening at the theatre. The suburban house might not have the character expected in Stratford, but inside everything is immaculate; bedrooms are nicely styled; bathrooms are modern and spotless. Help is offered with suitcases, everything is explained, and there is lots of information.' A room facing the busy main road was 'very quiet (good double glazing) and clean; a power shower in the large bathroom'. Air conditioning units 'allow guests to control the temperature'. A bedroom with an 'enticing' conservatory has been added on the ground floor. 'Breakfast was the best I've had in 40 years: wonderful fresh fruit, home-baked bread, perfectly poached eggs on thick granary toast.' The town centre is 'quite a step away' but buses pass the door. • The rooms were excellent and the service was impeccable! The owners were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts superb - recommend the smoked haddock.

  • Impeccable. The warmth of the welcome, the quality of the bedroom and bathroom, the wonderful breakfast with organic and/or locally sourced ingredients, and the additional touches (complimentary sherry, candle on a table so we could eat our bought-in picnic dinner in style)

    Michael Pender-Cudlip, 11/04/2012

  • We had not visited since the change of owner, but a short stay showed there has been a seamless transition. The standards of upkeep remain high and the breakfasts are delicious with some enterprising dishes. In the front rooms, you must keep windows closed at night because of the noisy road. Bathrooms have an ample shower but do not always have a bath.
