Heed the call of adventure at Julian and Carolyn Godlee’s characterful B&B and restaurant in a 19th-century grinding mill on the north Norfolk coast. Fortune favours the brave: expansive views of the salt marshes and the sea can be enjoyed throughout, but the most inspiring vistas are found from the top-floor Wheel Room, accessed via a ladder. Here, the climb is rewarded with a different panorama from each of the room’s four windows. Scared of heights? Tuck yourself in to the library in the circular sitting room at the base of the mill. A country aesthetic adorns the bedrooms (upstairs and in converted outbuildings). In the evening, chefs Emma Pegden and Jimmi Cubitt serve a daily-changing menu at the candlelit communal dinner.
