Cherry Trees

In ‘an ideal position’ for theatre-goers, this modern B&B is a short walk across the Avon footbridge to the town. The owners, Tony Godel and Royd Laidlow, are ‘brilliant’ hosts. ‘They welcomed us with a beautiful home-made apple cake to go with our tea, and gave me a copy of the recipe.’ Tony Godel, a former stage manager, is ‘great to talk to about productions’ at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatres. The ‘spacious, well-equipped, spotlessly clean’ bedrooms have a king-size bed, sitting area, ‘proper’ fresh milk in the mini-fridge; the bathrooms are ‘comfortably large, with a wonderful power shower and heated towels’. Two suites (Garden, Terrace) have access to the landscaped contemporary gardens and ‘beautiful’ pond. ‘Tiffany’ (Art Nouveau theme) has a newly renovated bathroom. Breakfast, served in the conservatory, ‘is the best ever: the full English breakfast is perfectly cooked, tasty sausage, thick slices of bacon; not in the least bit greasy; lovely home-made bread’; porridge with Drambuie-soaked raisins; freshly ground coffee and juice. Private parking means you can ‘forget the car and enjoy the town’. (Enid Proud, Colin Adams)
  • Quiet and comfortable in the Garden Suite. An excellent location over the road from the River Avon, a very easy walk to RSC theatre. Safe parking. Friendly hosts Tony and Royd provide an excellent breakfast (fresh orange juice.

  • Our second visit to ths wonderful luxury B&B, more than a match for many 5* hotels. Faultless in all departments and can't praise this place enough, it is a true gem with a fantastic location, what's not to like? Nothing!

  • Such is the quality, comfort and proximity to the theatre in Stratford, which we regularly visit, that we always check that there is a vacancy at Cherry Trees before booking our theatre tickets. Tony is great to talk to about the productions- better than reading the theatre critics! I love the fabulous garden. Royd served us with a beautiful home-made apple cake with our tea on arrival. Breakfast is the best ever. The rooms are spacious, and have the bonus of a separate area with a fridge with proper milk. There are comfortable chairs, and magazines. Parking is not a problem.

  • From the moment on our arrival that Royde, one of the charming owners, brought a splendidly large pot of freshly made leaf tea and some homemade marmalade cake to our room, we knew that things would go well. A very comfortable bed, a television in a separate space, fresh milk in the fridge, an umbrella in the porch, and our own front door key to our room, very good Wi-fi. The location could not be bettered for the RSC theatres. Freshly ground coffee and Drambuie soaked raisins in the breakast porridge set us up well for our Saturday morning tour of the town.
