Parford Well

Exceptional value (<£50)
Owner Tim Daniel escaped from London to run this ‘professional but personal’ B&B within Dartmoor national park. Arriving guests are greeted with afternoon tea and home-made cake. On fine days, visitors can sit in the pretty walled garden and look out across the unspoilt countryside of the River Teign valley; there is a supply of books and board games, and a wood-burning stove for wet days, in the elegantly furnished lounge. The ‘very comfortable’ bedrooms are decorated in a country house/modern style with wooden furniture and tasteful fabrics; one has a private bathroom across the corridor, the others have facilities en suite. The ‘superb’ breakfast is made to order by Tim Daniel, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible: fruit salad, full English, coffee and juice. Guests eat communally in the dining room, or in a private side room if they prefer. There are ‘wonderful’ walks from the doorstep, to the wooded valley or the open moorland, as well as the nearby 20th-century Castle Drogo, completed in 1930. No lunches or dinners; the pub opposite serves locally crafted beer and food. (CA)
  • We had a delightful 2 nights with friends in this professional but personal little B& B .The rooms were very comfortable, breakfast superb & Tim the perfect host.

  • It remains a sophisticated 'town house' in the most beautiful countryside. Tim, the owner, is a discreet part of the property. You can sit in the lounge and imagine you own the place.

  • Our fourth visit, everything impeccable. Breakfast is cooked to your order from local produce by the owner in his own dining room with garden view and no wonder one is set up for the day. Peace and quiet, superb place for Dartmoor strolls.
