Losehill Lane, Edale Road,
Good Hotel Guide Review
At the end of a leafy lane, this ‘beautiful’ hillside spa hotel has winning views across the Hope valley. The secluded white-painted Arts and Crafts house is run by Paul and Kathryn Roden, with ‘attentive’ staff. Choose among well-equipped, individually decorated bedrooms, each with comfy seating, plush bathrobes and locally produced biscuits; a complimentary newspaper is provided. Head off on walks across the valley, then come back to soak in the terrace hot tub as the sun goes down. Afterwards, take pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the lounge or bar. In the restaurant, chef Darren Goodwin serves ‘excellent’ modern dishes using Peak District produce whenever possible. ‘Superb’ breakfasts. Drawing room, bar, restaurant. Lift. Free Wi-Fi, in-room TV. Background music. Civil wedding licence; function/conferences; exclusive use. 1-acre garden; terrace. Spa (indoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, treatment rooms; open to non-residents). Parking. Children and dogs (in 2 rooms) welcomed. 23 bedrooms (4 with external entrance). Per room B&B from £160. Dinner £39.50. 2-night min. stay at weekends.
