On the edge of a village in the centre of the Wirral peninsula, Lorna Tyson and her husband, Donald (a farmer), have transformed an Edwardian country house into a relaxed B&B (‘no notices/rules anywhere!’) and small events venue.
Behind a row of lime trees on a calm cobbled drive, there’s style (and home-made sweets) aplenty at Glenn and Sarah Whitter’s ‘excellent’ upmarket B&B. In a discreet Georgian town house, it is within walking distance of theatres, restaurants and the two cathedrals.
Opposite the Philharmonic Hall, in the vibrant cultural quarter, this handsome modern hotel is ‘a real find’. ‘It’s a fine example of change for the better, in a city that’s being revived so well,’ say Guide readers in 2016.
Selected hotel accepts discount vouchers which entitle readers to a 25% discount off their normal B&B rate for a single night’s stay. Each printed copy of the Guide contains six vouchers worth in total about £150.
