Amid heather-clad volcanic rocks, Janette and Ian McKilligan’s purpose-built guest house on the Isle of Mull stands as a beacon for hill walkers and dog walkers alike. Its hillside position affords excellent countryside rambles, as well as panoramic views over the village and Loch Cuin. Spacious, country-style bedrooms, all on the first floor, have tea- and coffee-making facilities and home-baked treats; find plenty of books, maps and local information in the study. Sit in a comfy armchair in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks, or admire the wonderful views from the decked balcony.
