Good Hotel Guide Review

Amid heather-clad volcanic rocks, Janette and Ian McKilligan’s purpose-built guest house on the Isle of Mull stands as a beacon for hill walkers and dog walkers alike. Its hillside position affords excellent countryside rambles, as well as panoramic views over the village and Loch Cuin. Spacious, country-style bedrooms, all on the first floor, have tea- and coffee-making facilities and home-baked treats; find plenty of books, maps and local information in the study. Sit in a comfy armchair in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks, or admire the wonderful views from the decked balcony. Ian McKilligan’s daily-changing three-course menu, inspired by local produce, is served in the dining room at 7.30 pm. Lounge, study, dining room. Free Wi-Fi, in-room TV (Freeview). 2 acres of garden/woodland. Parking. Children over 13 and well-behaved dogs welcomed. 1 mile SW of Dervaig on the Calgary road. 5 bedrooms. Per room B&B single £95, double £125–£135. Dinner £33. Closed Nov–Feb.
