Good Hotel Guide Review
‘So much thought’ has gone into Lorraine Pun’s ‘beautifully decorated’ B&B, say guests this year. Convenient for the town, the bay-windowed, sandstone Victorian house is filled with polished wood, bold colours and squashy sofas. In the garden, find a surprise round every corner: interesting sculptures dot the grounds. Each of the large, bright bedrooms is well equipped with a mini-fridge, espresso machine and useful amenities (iPod dock, ironing board, hairdryer, hair straightener). Served in the conservatory overlooking the lovely garden, a ‘great’ breakfast (ordered the evening before) includes home-made scones and oatcakes. Joggers, bring your running shoes: excellent paths unfurl along the nearby Caledonian Canal. 2 lounges, conservatory breakfast room. Free Wi-Fi, in-room TV (Freeview). No background music. ½-acre garden. Children over 5 welcomed. 10 mins’ walk from the centre. 5 bedrooms. Per room B&B £94–£140. Closed 21 Nov–10 Jan.
