Good Hotel Guide Review
Minutes away from some of Scotland’s best distilleries, Andrea and Martin Anderson’s 19th-century home has been ‘superbly’ converted into an award-winning B&B. The Andersons now celebrate ten years at the helm (they arrived as guests in 2007 and never looked back). Expect a hearty greeting: ‘Martin welcomed us warmly, showed us to our room and gave us great advice about the local area,’ says a reader this year. Choose from bedrooms in the main house or in the converted stables. Each is individually decorated; biscuits, handmade locally, are a delicious accent. ‘Our delightful courtyard suite was well appointed and spotlessly clean; the light, bright sitting area had extremely comfortable chairs. Although the room is nearest to the road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise.’ The dining room and lounge occupy the double-height, light-filled cedarwood extension that overlooks the ‘beautifully kept’ gardens. In the morning, sit down to ‘excellent’ service and a varied breakfast menu; a reader recommends the ‘divine’ Arnold Bennett omelette, with fresh smoked haddock and cheese. (Deborah Connell)
