    Transformed from a Victorian hunting lodge, Anne Gracie and Ken Gunn’s friendly hotel on the Isle of Skye updates Highland heritage with a stylish touch. Overlooking the gardens, the Highlands or the Sound of Sleat, modern bedrooms are decorated with bold colours and sumptuous fabrics. Take afternoon tea by the log fire in the lounge or outside on the south-facing deck; pick a pre-dinner tipple among the wines, whiskies and gins to sip in the Chart Room. In the restaurant, sample chef Brian Ross’s daily-changing modern Scottish menus, which use seasonal produce from the island and Highlands. From April to September, take to the high seas: book the hotel’s luxury yacht for a day, with lunch and champagne included (whales, dolphins, seals and seabirds optional).
