Good Hotel Guide Review
Settle comfortably into rustic life at Susie and Alan Stoneham’s traditional English pub, a cosy retreat with great country walks – the whole, contentedly, ‘in the middle of nowhere’. There are nooks and crannies aplenty in the thatch-roofed 14th-century inn: come in to stone walls, low ceilings and huge beams; wooden settles and a log fire; real ales, malt whiskies, a blackboard menu of seasonal, locally inspired meals. Simply furnished, country-style bedrooms are accessed separately; each has a hospitality tray and a modern bathroom. Well located for jaunts to Longleat, Stonehenge and Wilton House. Bar, restaurant (closed Mon lunch New Year–Easter). Free Wi-Fi, in-room TV (Freeview). No background music. Small functions. Front and rear gardens. Children (baby monitor, babysitting; over-3s £25 charge) and dogs welcomed. 2 miles E of Tisbury. 4 bedrooms, plus adjacent 2-bed cottage. Per room B&B from £95 (2-night min. stay on summer and bank holiday weekends). Dinner from £26. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day.
