Fawlty Towers – January 2018

‘The “suite” was hardly that. There were doors that led out to a cigarette-strewn small patio area that had a CCTV camera pointing down into it. The bed was two singles pushed together, and the entire room was tired. Large but very basic bathroom. We both had a bad feeling about the place, in particular the customer service we had encountered in the first twenty-five minutes of being there, we decided to decline the offer of the “upgrade”, to leave and find alternative accommodation.’

‘Breakfast was good, although we do not like the fashion of bringing the toast immediately one orders, so that it is cold by the time the cooked breakfast arrives.’

‘A very disappointing suite, shabby, stains on the settee, broken tiles on the terrace. The bathroom was not cleaned properly, wet towels left on the floor every night, sink and mirror not cleaned. The coffee tray was left until the suite was cleaned, generally after 2 o’clock. Bed linen not changed.’
