Good Hotel Guide Review
‘A brilliant base for a boat trip to the world heritage site of the Skellig Islands’, Andrew and Kate Cooke’s ‘buzzing’ destination restaurant has expanded to provide ‘quirky, boutique-style’ bedrooms. ‘Kate is a charming owner/manager,’ reports a Guide regular this year, ‘service is friendly and efficient’. In the intimate restaurant, a short menu based on fresh, wild, local fish (supplied by the family business) is served ‘in generous portions’. ‘Spacious and comfortable’ bedrooms have ‘eclectic reading matter’, a Nespresso machine, Barry’s tea, and a fridge full of treat-bearing Kilner jars (fresh fruit salad, home-made fruit compote and yoghurt, granola, fresh milk). ‘Come morning, freshly baked croissants and muffins appear in a bag on your door handle.’
