Good Hotel Guide Review

A Victorian villa on the edge of the New Forest owned by Gérard Basset, an award-winning sommelier, and Nin, his wife,  former hotel inspector. This is ‘a friendly place, where we’re always made to feel totally welcome by the owners and their team,’ says a regular returnee in 2017. Well-equipped with an espresso machine, organic toiletries and ‘bedside lights you can actually read by’, ‘the immaculately presented bedrooms are very special’. Three have a patio garden, three a roof terrace. ‘And the outdoor pool is perfect, in summer, for the children.’ TerraVina  will close in February  2018 and reopen in March as a luxury B&B with a kitchen café.

Guest comments

'We have stayed on several occasions, both with and without our children. The best hotel we have stayed in in this country. Beautiful rooms, fantastic food, helpful staff and amazing wines. The outdoor pool is perfect in summer for the children. The rooms are very special. Always made to feel welcome by the owners and their team. A perfect retreat from our busy lives. Not pretentious, just very very friendly! ' - Claire Clark - May, 2017
'We knew Gerard and Nina from the days of Hotel du Vin in Winchester, so know that the hotel, and especially the wine, would be good. We were peased with both the rooms we stayed in. A lot of care had been taken in the furnishing; we each had a bedside light that you could actually read by. Dinner was very goodGerard and Nina and staff are very welcoming hosts. ' - Margaret & Patrick Filsell - October, 2016
