Good Hotel Guide Review

‘It oozes quality.’ ‘They made us feel like royalty.’ ‘Unreservedly recommended.’ A chorus of praise this year for this ‘fabulous’ B&B, in a ‘superb’ spot ‘convenient for the town and surrounding countryside’. Across the footbridge from the RSC Theatre, ‘marvellous’ hosts Tony Godel and Royd Laidlow receive a standing ovation for their ‘friendly’ welcome and the ‘delicious’ home-baked cake they offer to arriving guests. Bedrooms are ‘clean’ and ‘tastefully decorated’; all have bathrobes, a Roberts radio, tea- and coffee-making facilities, home-made biscuits, helpful local information. ‘Quiet and elegant, our comfortable suite had a private conservatory and a view on to the carefully tended water garden.’ Wake refreshed: breakfast, with juice and freshly ground coffee, is as you like it. ‘Generous, with very good choice’, the spread includes fruit, Drambuie cream porridge, a selection of omelettes, a full English with award-winning sausages; granola, bread and marmalade are all home made. Popular with theatregoers; Tony Godel, a former stage manager, speaks with enthusiasm about the latest productions. This B&B will close in October 2017. Guest comments

'Definitely luxurious! Large rooms with sitting area which are tastefully decorated and kept clean. The hosts are welcoming. Delicious homemade cake served on arrival. There is a choice of breakfasts, all of which are very tasty and served on proper crockery ' - Sharon Stuthard - September, 2015
'Quiet and comfortable in the Garden Suite. An excellent location over the road from the River Avon, a very easy walk to RSC theatre. Safe parking. Friendly hosts Tony and Royd provide an excellent breakfast (fresh orange juice. ' - Colin Adams - June, 2015
'Our second visit to ths wonderful luxury B&B, more than a match for many 5* hotels. Faultless in all departments and can't praise this place enough, it is a true gem with a fantastic location, what's not to like? Nothing! ' - Douglas Harley - October, 2014
'On our arrival Royde, one of the charming owners, brought a large pot of freshly made leaf tea and some homemade marmalade cake to our room: we knew that things would go well. A very comfortable bed, TV in a separate space, fresh milk in the fridge, an umbrella, and our own front door key, very good Wi-fi. The location could not be bettered for the RSC theatres. Freshly ground coffee and Drambuie soaked raisins in the breakast porridge set us up for our Saturday morning tour of the town. ' - Tessa Stuart - February, 2014
