The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Our 2015 Good Hotel Guide launches today, celebrating the very best of Britain’s booming hotel industry.
Each year 10 César awards are presented to the Guide’s most celebrated hoteliers. Named after César Ritz, these are known as the Oscars of the hotel industry.
“This year’s César awards are exceptional in their quality and range—from a small public house to a grand country house hotel. What they share in common is outstanding friendliness and service,” said co-editor Adam Raphael.
This year’s guide has more than 400 main entries and the Editor’s Choice highlights the top 10 hotels in 15 categories such as walking, wedding, spa hotels and golf.
