The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

To keep our Guide up-to-date, our hotel inspections never stop – with new hotels constantly being brought to our attention for us to review. The Good Hotel Guide’s Nicola Davies shines the spotlight on establishments which may feature in the next edition. Some of these may be new hotels, some under new management or some are simply new discoveries.
The Barn at Roundhurst, Lurgashall
On an immaculately neat and tidy working organic farm, the owners have restored a 17th-century Sussex barn to make a magnificent area for relaxing, dining and entertainment, with accommodation in six chic rustic rooms set around a leafy courtyard.
It was a great bonus to be able to walk directly from the farm up to Black Down, the highest point in the South Downs National Park, with almost 360 degree views over three counties. On a beautiful, sunny autumn day, too.
We may well include The Barn at Roundhurst in a future edition of the Guide. In the meantime, you can find out more on the hotel’s website:thebarnatroundhurst.com. Recommended to us by VisitEngland.
