High above the Caribbean, stands this luxurious little hotel (Relais & Chateaux). A transformation of one of the island's original 18th-century sugar plantations, it is a peaceful place to stay. Its individually decorated bedrooms have a private veranda and panoramic views. It has a large freshwater swimming pool and a spa. A shuttle takes guests down to its private beach (with a bar) on the coast, on the calmer Caribbean side of the island. Dinner, romantically served in the original mill, is a blend of French and Caribbean cuisine. Children over eight are welcomed. The botanic gardens are a short walk away.
