The Cavaliere family's hotel is in the heart of the Italian Alps, and overlooks Mount Blanc. It's a reconstruction of a 20th-century alpine villa – every room is named after a year – and is old-fashioned in feel, with antique furniture, polished floors and period paintings. A nominator described it as a 'fairy-tale' hotel: 'Every detail was perfect, from the food to the service, the ambience and the fitness centre.' A big plus is the on-demand free shuttle service to Dolonne ski cable car – much closer and quicker to get to that Courmayeur's.
