The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
By the River Vézère in this medieval village, this handsome 19th-century building has a friendly ambience, say visitors. It is run with warmth by Thierry and Katia Guedj. “Our room faced the river; the bathroom had lots of toiletries.” Drinks and snacks are served on the terrace, or under parasols on a lawn. “The grounds are large and peaceful: ivy-covered walls, mature trees, a goldfish pond, lots of roses.” Palms stand beside the attractive curving swimming pool; there is a paddling pool for tinies. “Lots of garden furniture; a waitress came round offering drinks. On a scorching hot day, all was cool, quiet. Breakfast, a self-service buffet, was great.” There is parking in a square outside the hotel, and a self-catering apartment nearby (minimum stay of 3 days).
