For three generations, since 1968, the Troisgros family, pioneers of nouvelle cuisine, ran their famous restaurant opposite la gare of a provincial town, Roanne, earning three Michelin stars. Now they have moved their restaurant to Ouches to a 'wonderful new home' in a large garden. The earlier building's striking modern décor is repeated here. There are also five gites in nearby La Colline du Colombier, a converted farmhouse with its own auberge. Michel Troisgros, patron/chef (grandson of the founder, Jean-Baptiste and his wife, Marie-Pierre), still holds three Michelin stars. His son, César, is also in the kitchen. The Troisgros's Café-restaurant-épicerie still operates opposite Roanne's station.
