Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Fans of the BBC’s Great British Menu will recognise Calum Montgomery, multi-award-winning chef-proprietor at this 16th-century hunting lodge, transformed into a smart foodie destination. Bedrooms reflect the Skye landscape, with soft pastels, earthy tweeds and tartans. Each has a king-size or super-king bed, an espresso machine, homemade shortbread, ocean-inspired works by local artist Katie Tunn, ceramics from Edinbane Pottery, Highland bath products. Two dog-friendly Riverside Rooms have private patio/garden access. Seasonally evolving tasting and à la carte menus showcase produce from crofters, fisherman, artisans and the wild, in exquisitely presented dishes such as hand-dived scallop with smoked seaweed butter sauce; Highland Wagyu beef, wild garlic; venison with pickled and roasted Jerusalem artichoke. Expect contemporary comforts and elderflower negronis, with not a stag’s head in sight.
