Abundant wildlife, dark skies, a scenic golf course and white-sand beaches attract guests to this owner-run island guest house with large, comfortable bedrooms and excellent cooking.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
With star-filled dark skies, a spectacular golf course, white-sand beaches just a short drive away, and the Hebridean Way running by, this 'immaculate, stylish' guest house is a breath of fresh air. ‘It's a fantastic base from which to explore the amazing wildlife on Uist,’ writes one reader. Hands-on owners and hospitality professionals Christopher Brooks and Carla Regler are 'very friendly and welcoming', as well as informative. ‘We showed an interest in the Eriskay wild ponies and, without asking, information on where they could be found was forthcoming.’ 'Beautiful large rooms with walk-in shower and very comfortable bed’ are decorated in smart-contemporary style, while a log burner warms a lounge area with comfy sofas and well-stocked honesty bar with 'an amazing selection of whisky'. Chef Chris cooks a nightly, short, locally sourced menu of dishes such as chargrilled venison steak, and butternut squash with risotto and goat cheese, catering to dietary needs. At breakfast there are eggs from the hens and ducks, and freshly baked croissants. ‘Excellent food and beautifully presented,' writes another reader. 'Go and stay but don't weigh yourself afterwards.' (BW, F and MW)
