The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

The Arundell Arms, at Lifton in Devon, famed for its fishing, is this month’s prize-giving hotel.
Run by Adam Fox-Edwards, the son of the late much-loved Anne Voss-Bark, this family hotel is an excellent combination of unpretentious accommodation and good cooking.
The hotel has 20 miles of fly-fishing on the River Tamar, and its ghillies have taught many generations how to pursue this most difficult of skills. But non-fishers are also well catered for.
All you need do to win this handsome prize of dinner, bed and breakfast for two at The Arundell Amrs is to send us a review of your favourite hotel or B&B in Great Britain or Ireland.
Find out more on our competition page and send us a review here. If you’d like to find out more about fishing hotels, take a look at our Editor’s Choice top fishing hotels.
* John Holland from Herne Bay is the winner of last month’s prize of dinner, bed and breakfast for two at The Cat Inn, a 16th-century inn on a spur of the Sussex Weald, which won a César award last year.
