Good Hotel Guide Review
In a sleepy village in the Scottish Borders, Katrina and William Reynolds’s ‘friendly village inn’ is an ‘excellent-value’ base for walkers, cyclists, fisherfolk and visitors in search of a rural break. Family run for more than a decade, it has ‘a happy blend of modern furnishings and artwork, and the feel of a traditional country pub’. At mealtimes, expect local produce: home-baked breads and Scottish seafood platters among the ‘generous portions of first-class food’. Dinner in a beer garden pod with farmland views ‘is a real treat’. Up-to-date bedrooms have Scottish biscuits, Highland toiletries and information on local walks; the helpful owners have tips to share.
