'Perfect location, perfect staff, perfect pool.' On a hill at the east end of the Promenade des Anglais, this popular hotel has stunning views over the Baie des Anges. It stands back from the busy road, so most bedrooms are quiet. 'Ours looked over proper French houses.' The hotel has a 'South of France decor which combines intimacy with Mediterranean chic'. 'Modern touches' include bold colours and big spots. Superior and Deluxe rooms have a sea-facing balcony with parasol. 'Our lovely room had tall windows.' Some small rear rooms have no view. The big heated swimming pool is set below high rocks. On the roof is a solarium, with deckchairs and wide views, spa bath and small gym. The restaurant Le Patio on a charming terrace with lemon trees or on the veranda facing the garden when cooler is delightful. It offers well presented Mediterranean cuisine made with fresh local products. Dinner can be taken al fresco by candlelight. Breakfast had good choice (quiche, fruit salad, etc)' and light lunches are served. Staff are 'charming, particularly the receptionists'; 'the brilliant bagagiste parked our car'. The beach is 15 metres away.
