Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Convenient for visiting the Loire châteaux, this 'cool and pleasant' inn (Logis de France) is in a peaceful village south of Blois. It is the family home of the owner, Gilles Martinet. The cooking of Gabriel Faure, served in the beautiful dining room or on the terrace by the garden, combines fresh local produce with the culinary traditions of the Loire Valley. His dishes include cod steak with polenta and goat's cheese and saddle of lamb with Sichuan pepper and a tatin of Jerusalem artichokes. There is 'a terrific selection of local wines'. Breakfasts, in a rustic room, 'are excellent, with figs, greengages and strawberries in season, and home-made jams'. There are big fireplaces, beamed ceilings, a spacious salon. One couple had a 'compact bedroom, very pretty, with an equally attractive bathroom', but rooms in the new annexe are deemed not as attractive.
