Good Hotel Guide Review
Two miles from the harbour of a tiny Skye fishing village, a single-track road leads to Clare Winskill’s peaceful restaurant-with-rooms; guests are offered a glass of Prosecco on arrival. Over 300 years old, quaint and quirky, Coruisk House has low ceilings, a stone-walled snug, a conservatory dining room with mountain and island views. Simply furnished bedrooms are bright and homely. In the house next door, there are two luxurious suites. One has a sitting room. Bathrooms have robes, fluffy towels, luxury toiletries. Chef Iain Roden’s cooking features seafood and Highland game; bread and ice cream is home-made. The remote setting offers scenic walks, opportunities for wild swimming. The hosts will book boat trips (Mar–end Nov, depending on the weather) to islands Rum, Canna and Eigg, and for scenic Loch Coruisk.
