The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
In the lively Tribeca area of Manhattan, Robert de Niro's luxury hotel, opened in 2008, 'has a ski lodge feel to it, says its nominator. It stands on a cobblestoned street a block away from the Hudson River. 'A bonus is the Locanda Verde, one of my favourite restaurants in New York.' 'Friendly greeting, rooms clean and welcoming, nice extras like comfy slippers and high-quality toiletries. Every room feels different and unique.' Minibar snacks are free. Carrara marble and Moroccan tiles abound in the bathrooms. Some suites have a fireplace. The carpeted drawing room faces a lush courtyard. (John Levene)
