Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Handsomely restored, this double-fronted, red-brick B&B is just a short bus ride from the city centre. It is owned by Olive and Roger Nicholson, who welcome arriving guests with complimentary tea and coffee. Individually decorated in keeping with the style of the Victorian house, bedrooms have good seating, and modern facilities. A wide-ranging breakfast is served in a book-lined room with a wood-burning stove. The Nicholsons mill their own flour from organic Irish wheat grain for the freshly baked sourdough and wheaten bread; there are also home-made marmalades and jams, spiced fruit compotes and good vegetarian options. Shops, restaurants and a leafy park are close by.
