Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Extremely nice staff’ create a ‘comfortable, homely atmosphere’ at this elegant town house hotel between Paddington station and Hyde Park. Public spaces are decorated with period furnishings and oil paintings; traditionally styled bedrooms look on to the tree-lined street or a private mews. The rooms vary in size – a four-poster suite has its own sitting room – but all have an antique desk, an easy chair, and a limestone shower or bathroom well supplied with bathrobes, slippers and high-end toiletries. Stay in for cocktails and sophisticated small plates (maybe scallops and boudin noir, sweetcorn purée, crispy sage; smoked venison saddle, blackberry and gin, cocoa oil) in the bar. Breakfast may be taken in the room. (Underground: Paddington, Lancaster Gate)
