Good Hotel Guide Review
Decorated with flair, this grand Georgian villa across the road from the Imperial Gardens has bold bedrooms, modern artworks, a buzzy restaurant, and a ‘nice atmosphere’ throughout. It is part of Sam and Georgie Pearman’s small, Cotswolds-based Lucky Onion group (see next entry). Modish bedrooms are stocked with a capsule coffee machine and locally made minibar snacks (plus, perhaps, an original David Hockney or William Kentridge). With a ‘great bed’ to boot, they’re ‘very comfortable indeed’. Merry-making locals gather in the Crazy Eights bar for cocktails; in the restaurant, local-ingredient-inspired menus might include wild garlic soup, crème fraîche; flat-iron Cotswold chicken, smoked bacon, baby onions, shiitake. An admirable breakfast menu includes all-butter croissants.
