Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Everyone’s idea of a Cotswold pub’, this 600-year-old inn is one of the oldest buildings in a picturesque village of thatched houses on the River Windrush. Outside is a spread of gardens, wildflower meadows and woodland; inside, cosy nooks, log fires, flagstone floors and sturdy beams form a characterful backdrop for pie-and-pint evenings or cocktails, seasonal specials and pub classics (artichoke risotto, ewe’s curd; Hobgoblin-battered haddock). Well-ordered bedrooms, some able to accommodate a family, have rustic charm in their plaid throws and cushions; bathrobes, slippers and upmarket toiletries are welcome extras. Guests may use the tennis and spa facilities at sister hotel Minster Mill, across the road.
