Good Hotel Guide Review
One of the oldest buildings in a village of thatched houses, this 600-year-old inn stands steps away from the willows leaning over the River Windrush. Outside are gardens, wildflower meadows and woodland; inside, cosy nooks, log fires, flagstone floors and sturdy beams form a characterful setting for pie-and-brew evenings or celebratory drinks. Well-ordered bedrooms (three with a four-poster bed; some to suit a family) have rustic charm in their plaid throws and cushions, plus bathrobes, slippers and upmarket toiletries. Tackle a rural walk or fish from a mile of river bank; return to take afternoon tea on the terrace. Guests may use the tennis and spa facilities at sister hotel Minster Mill, across the road.
