Good Hotel Guide Review
Off the beaten track, a cheerful welcome awaits horses, hikers and hounds at Izzy Barnard’s wild flower-filled Georgian house in prime Shropshire hacking and walking country. A blazing fire in the drawing room and piles of books help guests wind down; the soothing sauna completes the job. A candlelit four-course dinner may be served (by arrangement); or perhaps simple home-made soup and a sandwich. The country-style bedrooms have home-away-from-home comforts, with a large bed, antique furnishings and biscuits to nibble on (horses and dogs have their own accommodation). At breakfast, home-made bread and jams, home-cured bacon; knitted cosies keep warm eggs from the resident ducks. Guides and route cards detailing nearby bridleways are available.
