Good Hotel Guide Review
At the entrance to Warwick Castle, Janet and Stuart Baldry’s ‘good-value’ B&B is fronted with hanging baskets of colourful blooms. Inside the 15th-century timber-framed building, find oak beams and sloping floors – evidence of its long history. Climb a steep staircase to most of the traditionally decorated bedrooms on the first floor. Each is different: one has a 300-year-old four-poster bed, another has a king-size spa bath. A ground-floor room has access to the pretty patio garden. Breakfast is taken in the former castle dairy (the original sandstone floor has been retained). Start the day with cereals, yogurts, fruit and juices; a ‘perfectly cooked’ full English; cafetière coffee or a pot of Yorkshire tea. A good base for the town; further afield, Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington Spa are within a 20-minute drive.
