Good Hotel Guide Review
‘I cannot think how this beautifully appointed and run B&B could be bettered,’ says a Guide reader in 2017. ‘Helpful owners’ Pam and David Talboys – ‘hospitality itself’ – have welcomed guests to this stone house overlooking the High Street of the Cotswold village since 1961. Traditional, country cottage-style bedrooms have ‘a comfy bed, beautiful linen and towels, decent cupboard space and a small but lavishly provisioned bathroom’; some rooms can accommodate a family. The ‘large, comfortable’, homely sitting room has an honesty bar – carry a drink into the garden in good weather. ‘First-rate breakfasts’, with home-made breads, jams and cakes, and much local produce, are taken in the stone-flagged front parlour facing the street. ‘Astonishingly affordable for the area.’
Spanning 80 acres, Bodnant Gardens has terraced gardens and informal lawns, as well as a wild garden by the valley of the River Hiraethlyn.
