Good Hotel Guide Review
Peace and tranquillity reign at Paul and Michelle Mattinson’s ‘most welcoming’ Georgian house, where well-manicured gardens stretch towards magnificent Northumberland countryside. A child-free spot, it has plenty of space to recharge. The large, airy sitting room has cosy armchairs for reading a borrowed book or a newspaper; the grounds are ideal for restful strolls. Recently refurbished, well-equipped, capacious bedrooms, all garden-facing, have thoughtful extras (tea-/coffee-making facilities, USB connectivity, a mini-fridge, fluffy bathrobes, good toiletries); two have a separate lounge. Ordered in advance, breakfasts are generous (oak-smoked local kippers, locally made jams). The owners offer knowledgeable advice about the numerous attractions in the area.
