Good Hotel Guide Review
In spring, a wealth of daffodils lines the drive to Paul and Michelle Mattinson’s ‘most welcoming’ Georgian house, which stands in neat gardens that stretch towards a spread of Northumberland countryside. There’s much to appreciate in each season, from the open fire in the leather-armchaired lounge, to the restful strolls around the grounds. Adult-only B&B accommodation is in large, garden-facing bedrooms on the first floor. Each room has thoughtful extras (tea- and coffee-making facilities, a mini-fridge, fluffy bathrobes); two have a separate lounge. Generous breakfasts, with oak-smoked local kippers and locally made jams, are ordered in advance. Castles, gardens and the coast are within reach.
