Good Hotel Guide Review
A lively spot, this family-friendly hotel on the banks of the River Leven stands in sweeping gardens, and has a cheery mix of colours and prints inside. It is owned by Sharon and Audrey Bardsley. Ongoing refurbishment has given the 17th-century former coaching house its playful public areas (parrot-print wallpaper, up-to-date florals, pompom-fringed lampshades), cool, contemporary spa and modern country-style bedrooms. Accommodation comes in a host of options: choose from top-floor adult-only suites, interconnecting family rooms, and others in between. Visit the atmospheric pub for classic dishes; check out the River Room restaurant for chef Claire Asbury’s modern menu. A marbled-topped juice bar has smoothies, ice creams, juices and light lunches. Breakfasts are ample.
