Good Hotel Guide Review
Nostalgia seeker or adrenaline junkie? Zipwire thrills, underground explorations, mountain bike trails lie on the doorstep of this easy-going hotel on UNESCO’s newest World Heritage site in Snowdonia. The distinctive 19th-century black and white building stands high above the almost ‘other-worldly’ landscape of a slate quarry and the old Llechwedd mine. The house has been refurbished in modern style, its spacious rooms given colourful walls to offset works by Welsh artists; a terrace affords far-reaching views and stunning sunsets. Charcuterie and vegetarian sharing platters, and ‘generously topped’ pizzas, satisfy after a day’s activity. A little further, mountains and beaches are waiting to be explored.
