Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Generous hosts’ Moyra and Rod Davidson ‘warmly welcome’ guests to their ‘relaxing’ Georgian B&B, in lawns and wooded grounds close to the coast. ‘The hosts make it special.’ The ‘comfortably furnished’ living room has a wood-burner and ‘books everywhere, which we loved’. Large, ‘well-appointed’ bedrooms are provided with a hot-water bottle and a choice of bedding. An ‘excellent’ home-cooked dinner of local and home-grown produce (typically hot-smoked Scottish salmon; citrus and herb pork tenderloin) may be served, by arrangement. Bring a bottle – there’s no corkage charge. Breakfast is ‘ample and beautifully arranged’, and includes home-made marmalade, and honey from hives in the garden. Eat well, then step out to impressive views across the Solway Firth. 2 miles from village.
