Good Hotel Guide Review

‘Generous hosts’ Moyra and Rod Davidson ‘warmly welcome’ guests to their ‘relaxing’ Georgian B&B, in lawns and wooded grounds close to the coast. ‘The hosts make it special.’ The ‘comfortably furnished’ living room has a wood-burner and ‘books everywhere, which we loved’. Large, ‘well-appointed’ bedrooms are provided with a hot-water bottle and a choice of bedding. An ‘excellent’ home-cooked dinner of local and home-grown produce (typically hot-smoked Scottish salmon; citrus and herb pork tenderloin) may be served, by arrangement. Bring a bottle – there’s no corkage charge. Breakfast is ‘ample and beautifully arranged’, and includes home-made marmalade, and honey from hives in the garden. Eat well, then step out to impressive views across the Solway Firth. 2 miles from village.

Guest comments

'We enjoyed our time there. The house is beautifully presented and our room was spacious, with a luxurious bathroom. Everywhere is very comfortably furnished, with a wood burner in the guest living room and books everywhere. The food was also excellent and we ate two very good dinners there. The breakfasts were also tasty, generous and carefully prepared. A comfortable and relaxing stay. ' - Chris Parr - February, 2016
