Good Hotel Guide Review
A 19th-century former dancehall and livery stable in the city centre has been transformed into a lofty B&B packed with personal touches. Hannah McIntyre home-bakes a help-yourself afternoon spread of sweet treats for guests. Squashy sofas sit next to a log burner in the book-lined library; a grand piano stands on a raised platform in the beamed breakfast room. Voguishly designed mezzanine bedrooms have wooden floors, a huge bed; ladder-style stairs lead to a bath and fig-and-vanilla-scented toiletries hand-made by the hostess. Breakfast, too, is a home-made treat of granola and berries, seed loaves, plus custom blended teas and coffees; a weekend special (perhaps piles of sausages, scrambled eggs, roast tomatoes, mushrooms).
