Good Hotel Guide Review
On the edge of Hastings Old Town, a short stroll from the seafront, this 18th-century rectory has a modern country house interior and a lovely walled garden with a pond and a paved terrace. Owned by Lionel Copley, it is a sister property to Swan House, a ten-minute walk away (see main entry). Tracey-Anne Cook and Helen Styles are the managers. Each of the smart, stylish bedrooms has been distinctively decorated with an opulent chandelier, trompe l”oeil touches or vintage wallpaper and furniture; one has a secret door; three overlook the garden. In the elegant lounge, a fire blazes in an enormous hearth on cold days. Breakfast has home-made sausages, home-cured bacon and home-baked bread; kippers, haddock and smoked salmon are from the local fishery. 2 lounges (newspapers, magazines; honesty bar), breakfast room; walled garden with terrace and seating. Civil wedding licence. Free Wi-Fi and local telephone calls. DVD library. Background music. Limited parking (5 cars); permits are provided for local car parks. 8 bedrooms (one 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite). Per room B&B from £99. Closed 1 week at Christmas, 2 weeks Jan.
